Just found out the hardway - if Quicktime is not set to use SAFE MODE, but left in DirectX mode, Launch of Atlantis will fail.

Isn't this only true for the latest version of Quicktime? There is a note on the DVFilm site somewhere about version 6 odd working OK while version 7 odd has to be set to safe?

Good Point, and I do not know. I'm also getting more confused about this here, as it works just fine in DirectX mode on the Laptop - but not on the desktop. I know that DV Film have been unable to repro this issue at all, so it has to be a system specific thing.

Site navigation for DVFilm is absolutely appauling! You guys can hire me to sort it out for you if you like. Anyway on the http://dvfilm.com/update/index.htm page under Quicktime Notes it says : If you have Quicktime 7.2 installed, remove and install 7.1.6 or set quicktime to GDI Safe Mode by clicking Edit->Preferences->Quicktime Preferences, Advanced, Select "Safe mode (GDI only)". Advice which is, sadly, extremely hard to find.

| I have the installer for 7.1.6 stashed safely away. See other post as well about this for more info. Seems it is definitely a Quicktime/system related issue.
