1. Batch Processing

The batch processing feature allows you to process more than one movie file:

Choose your Movie Files

Open the Batch processing pop-up by clicking Batch in the main menu bar. Then open your first movie by clicking File->Open on the main menu bar. After the movie is open, click on Add File to Batch. Then open your second movie, and click on Add File to Batch again. Repeat until all the movie files you wish to process appear in the Batch List. If you change you mind, use Clear All to clear out the list and start over. In the Windows version, you may also hand-edit the Batch List. The files can exist anywhere on your computer, but not on a CDROM or any read-only device.

Choose your Processing Options

Click on Process->View Options in the main menu bar to select the processing options for the batch. Note: the same processing options are used for all files in the batch.

Start the Batch

Click on Start Batch to start the batch processing. Each movie file is opened automatically and processing begins. Error message pop-ups are suppressed. If an error occurs on a file, the file will be aborted but the processing will continue on the next movie file, if possible. (Note: you cannot use the Process->Start Processing menu bar selection to start a batch process.) If you need to stop the batch process, click Stop on the progress bar. The entire batch will be aborted.

File Naming Convention

For an input file named mymovie.avi (for example), the processed version of the file will be named NEWmymovie.avi. It will be stored in the same folder (directory) as the input file.

2. Save Processing Options

Starting with Maker release 1.06c, Atlantis 1.05c, the processing options are saved in the "noguide" file which is created when you turn off the Quickstart Guide. To take advantage of this feature, select the checkbox that appears in the Quickstart Guide labeled "Don't show guide on startup." This presumes you are an expert user and do not need the Quickstart Guide. Then whenever you click OK in any of the processing options popups, the selected values are saved and used as defaults the next time you start the application. To revert back to the factory-set defaults, erase the noguide file.

3. High-Quality Playback

Starting with Maker release 1.06c, Atlantis 1.05c, the high-quality playback flag is set on any processed QuickTime movie, provided that the "Max" quality radio button is selected in the Advanced Options pop-up (which is the default). Although this has no effect on the quality of the movie once recorded to tape, it directs the free Quicktime player to show frames at full resolution.
